KinTrek ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the KinTrek mobile application, website, and related services (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account. We use this to create and identify your KinTrek account.

2.2 Trip and Travel Data

You may provide trip details including destinations, dates, flight numbers, hotel reservations, car rental bookings, activity plans, and other travel-related information. This data is stored to provide the Service to you and your family group.

2.3 Uploaded Documents

You may upload travel documents such as booking confirmations, tickets, and PDFs. These documents are stored securely and processed to extract relevant travel details. Document images and files are only accessible to you and members of your family group.

2.4 Device and Usage Information

We may collect basic device information (device type, operating system version) and usage data (feature usage, crash reports) to improve the Service. We do not collect precise location data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Process and display your trip information
  • Extract details from uploaded travel documents using automated systems
  • Share trip information with your family group members
  • Send service-related communications (such as family invitations)
  • Monitor and improve the reliability and security of the Service

4. Document Processing and AI

When you upload travel documents, we may use artificial intelligence services (including Amazon Web Services) to extract information such as hotel names, flight numbers, dates, and confirmation codes. Documents are transmitted securely to these services for processing. We do not use your documents to train AI models. Extracted information is stored with your trip data and subject to the same protections.

5. Information Sharing

5.1 Family Group Members

Trip information, including documents and itineraries, is shared with all members of your family group. You control who is invited to your family group.

5.2 Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate the Service, including:

  • Google — for authentication (Google Sign-In)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — for document processing, email delivery, and infrastructure
  • Flight data providers — to look up flight status (flight numbers only, no personal data)
  • Weather services — to provide weather forecasts for trip destinations

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of KinTrek, our users, or the public.

5.4 No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and uploaded documents within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format

KinTrek is designed for families and may be used by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. Child accounts within a family group are managed by the parent account holder. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Cookies and Tracking

The KinTrek mobile app does not use cookies or third-party tracking. The marketing website (kintrek.app) does not use analytics cookies or third-party trackers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other means. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised.
